Let's CELEBRATE our TEACHERS & STAFF for Teacher Appreciation Week!
Did you know that almost every teacher keeps a folder to preserve kind notes, letters, and emails from students and parents? Often titled "Warm Fuzzies" - or even "For When You're Having a Bad Day..." We reach into that folder and just take a few minutes to remind ourselves why we do what we do - and it gives us the strength, love, and faith to push through whatever difficult time we are experiencing. (Not that the final weeks of 4th quarter are challenging, right?) In short, the kind words of our students and families stay with us forever. Even when we are retiring and sorting through boxes of class supplies - WE KEEP THE NOTES.
Please consider taking a few minutes and writing a few notes to the Marian teachers and staff who have helped shape your student's experience in high school.
It would be absolutely wonderful to FLOOD their mailboxes with printed messages from students and parents - it's just the boost our teachers need as our school-year kicks into that final flurry of grades, ceremonies, celebrations, and deadlines!

Congratulations to our Newest FRENCH HONOR SOCIETY Inductees!
SENIORS - End of Year SCHEDULE!
CONGRATULATIONS Joseph Noonan! STATE CHAMPION in Physics and 4th in Mathematics at the ACADEMIC CHALLENGE!
All Parents - We Need Your Feedback on the 1:1 Technology!
As we close Year One of our 1:1 Technology integration, we are gathering feedback from teachers, students, and parents on what worked and what needs improvement. Your opinion is SO IMPORTANT as we plan next year! Please take a few minutes to complete the Parent Survey linked below. If you could complete this survey by May 1st, we would really appreciate it!
SENIOR EXAM EXEMPTION
Seniors in good standing are afforded the opportunity to opt out of second semester final exams, given that they meet all of the criteria listed on the attached EXEMPTION APPLICATION (linked below).
This form must be completed in its entirety and returned to the school office by the end of the day on Friday, May 3rd 2019.
The classroom teacher reserves the right to rescind exemption approval if the student’s grade drops below 91% by the date of the final exam. The Principal and Assistant Principal also reserve the right to rescind exemption approval if the student accumulates additional disciplinary or attendance incidents that exclude him/her from the exemption policy outlined below by the date of the final exam.
THIS FORM MUST BE COMPLETED IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR ANY EXAM EXEMPTIONS.
Tuition and fees must be paid in full by April 15, 2019, according to official tuition payment schedule.
SENIOR EXAM EXEMPTION APPLICATION (includes all criteria!)
A few things to consider:
- We DO average 3rd and 4th quarter grades together! So - if a student had a rocky 3rd quarter, but brought up that grade, and that combined grade averages 91% (rounded) - then the exemption is still possible!
- We DO complete additional application reviews, if alerted by marking the "appeal" box. For example, some teachers may have a larger assignment or project due AFTER the exam application is due.
- We DO NOT accept appeals for excessive disciplinary infractions.
- We MATCH all absences with COLLEGE and MEDICAL notes received into the office.
- We MUST have a cut-off date for the appeal process: May 10th. That way, we can finalize those testing lists for our teachers - and all students know exactly what they need to prepare for!
- If in doubt - encourage your student to complete the application! Please know, however, even appealed applications may not result in approvals.
- Remind your student that this exemption program is a PRIVILEGE that must be EARNED.

Need a SPORTS PHYSICAL? Do we have a DEAL for YOU! (and Marian!)
Pradeep N Raju MD, from OrthoIllinois, is extending an AMAZING deal for SPORTS PHYSICALS! Please read his message and perhaps this will work with your schedule (and budget) AND it helps Marian Central!
I just wanted to extend an opportunity to the schools in our area for sports physicals at Orthoillinois in Algonquin this summer, as either mass physicals or at walk-in convenience. Each physical would be $10 and streamlined at our Algonquin location through Injury Express. The money from the physicals would go back in one check to the school to be utilized by your athletic department. Your athletes also have the option to come during regular office hours for their physical 8-8 M-F and 10-4 Saturday, this fee will also by directed back to the individuals school. Thank you for allowing me, over the last 8 months, to care for your athletes.
For the ones who do not know me, I grew up in Crystal Lake and a former graduate of Prairie Ridge High School. I am board certified in both Family and Sports Medicine with an extensive concussion background. It would be great to care for the community I grew up in! Please don't hesitate to call me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Pradeep

THANK YOU for supporting MARIAN CENTRAL at our AUCTION!
On behalf of the entire Marian Central Catholic High School community, we would like to thank those who supported our Casino Night: 2019 Annual Dinner Auction and Super Raffle! The proceeds from both fundraisers will support tuition assistance for the young men and women attending Marian.
We would like to extend a special thank you to the sponsors, donors, alumni, faculty, staff, parents, students, volunteers, and friends who worked tirelessly to make the event a success! With your help, we raised nearly $80,000 to support Marian families in need of tuition assistance. We hope those in attendance had fun! We missed those who could not be with us that evening. Thank you for your support of Marian Central and its students!
