LAST CALL TO ORDER 2018-2019 YEARBOOKS!
Dear Marian Families,
Don't miss out on the final opportunity to purchase the 2018-2019 Yearbook!!! Even if you have purchased a book for another sibling, we see the yearbook as an opportunity to preserve memories for every student.
A yearbook becomes priceless as time passes and cherished moments fade as the years go by. In twenty years, we will need the yearbook to relive, remember and respect the moments that were so defining to us in high school.
BUT WAIT—THERE’S MORE! If you order a yearbook by May 24th, you will receive a FREE autograph insert THIS May to pass around and have friends sign! After this date, we cannot guarantee an autograph insert for your student! Don’t miss out on this great opportunity!
**Autograph Inserts were delivered May 14-May 16. If your student did not receive one, and you believe you have already purchased the 2018-2019 Yearbook, please contact kgallagher@marian.com ASAP so we can check our records prior to the final sale date.
The FINAL date to purchase the 2018-2019 Yearbook is by 2:30 pm Friday, May 31st, 2019.

Mr. Steve Liggett Named Air Force Association Aerospace Education Teacher of the Year
Congratulations Mr. Liggett!
Help Keep EMPOWER ILLINOIS Alive for our Families - and Represent Catholic Schools!
Empower Illinois has been engaged in in a lobbying campaign called “Save My Scholarship” with the Illinois Legislature.
They are in need of some adults to go down to Springfield to show support for this program. They have been very successful so far, but we have been told lawmakers have been asking “Where are the Catholic Schools?” So, we need to make sure that our voice is heard as well.
We have the most schools and the most students that will potentially benefit from this program.
We are asking for 3-4 adults from among scholarship winners, administrators, teachers, and scholarship hopefuls. The dates are listed below. Empower Illinois will do a bit of training with people to be sure they are comfortable in speaking with law makers. They will also arrange seeing the right people once they get there.

The course consists of an introductory lecture, continuous instruction on strategies and techniques, and daily individual writing conferences with Mr. Stamatakos on each and every draft of the essay - from topic ideas through the finished product.
The workshop will run from Monday, August 5th through Thursday, August 8th. Students will attend the workshop during one of the following time slots:

Senior College Application Night will be held on Tuesday August 20th 2019 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. This program will outline the logistics of applying to college and will include a brief Common Application tutorial and detailed instructions for using SCOIR throughout the college application process. Though attendance isn’t mandatory, all seniors are strongly encouraged to attend. Parents are encouraged to attend as well. Even though parents may not be new to the college application process, the Class of 2020 will be the first to use SCOIR to process and send all of their college application materials. We want to be sure everyone has the information they need to make college application season smooth and stress free!
Financial Aid Information Night will be held on Tuesday, September 24th 2019 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. in the Auditorium. This program will provide families with an understanding of how families’ financial need is determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the CSS Profile and how colleges use that information to award need-based financial aid. This year’s presenter will be Susan Teerink, the Associate Vice Provost for Financial Aid and Enrollment Services at Marquette University. This program is open to students and parents from all grade levels, however junior and senior families are strongly encouraged to attend.

Need a SPORTS PHYSICAL? Do we have a DEAL for YOU! (and Marian!)
Pradeep N Raju MD, from OrthoIllinois, is extending an AMAZING deal for SPORTS PHYSICALS! Please read his message and perhaps this will work with your schedule (and budget) AND it helps Marian Central!
I just wanted to extend an opportunity to the schools in our area for sports physicals at Orthoillinois in Algonquin this summer, as either mass physicals or at walk-in convenience. Each physical would be $10 and streamlined at our Algonquin location through Injury Express. The money from the physicals would go back in one check to the school to be utilized by your athletic department. Your athletes also have the option to come during regular office hours for their physical 8-8 M-F and 10-4 Saturday, this fee will also by directed back to the individuals school. Thank you for allowing me, over the last 8 months, to care for your athletes.
For the ones who do not know me, I grew up in Crystal Lake and a former graduate of Prairie Ridge High School. I am board certified in both Family and Sports Medicine with an extensive concussion background. It would be great to care for the community I grew up in! Please don't hesitate to call me with any questions.
Sincerely,
Pradeep
